The foundation course allowed me freedom to choose my own path, which created an opportunity to specialise in illustration with elements of character design and storyboarding. Designing a book cover for the Penguin Student Design competition was an expansive insight into the editorial illustration industry so it was both educational and exciting to try my own hand at cover design by combining skills of colour, composition and typography.

The opportunity to draw from life on the streets of Eastbourne presented challenges that were exciting to work around, as people of course do not slow down for you. Capturing movement, personality and anatomy led into my later projects that incorporated character design, such as a concept for a children’s book and my final project, Life Windows, which dealt with the idea of human connection through windows. I am progressing to Edinburgh University to study Animation BA (Hons).
