‘Bringing Power Home’ This project considers literal and non traditional ideas of power. It explores the patterns within it, and how it is used in our lives everyday. My research began with a broad look at a range of concepts that people consider powerful. I then physically visited places where literal power was present. I then experimented using a range of different techniques and approaches, including screen-printing and constructed textiles. I then settled on using the heat-press and drawing out elements with a bonda-web as this was most effective to making a pattern that may be used within a home while still being creative and illustrating power. I am interested in how this may be incorporated in a living environment, how it may affect people's moods and add to the atmosphere it would be used for. It was important to me that the outcome be repeatable and easy to incorporate within a space. I am progressing to Solent university where I have chosen to study BA (Hons) Interior Design.
