Progress to next year/level of study
On the course I have been able to explore a range of projects in different specialist workshops. From this experience I’ve chosen to specialise in illustration because I like the wide variation of materials and processes that can be used within it. I’ve learnt that within illustration imagery may be constructed with textiles, metal, wood and Photoshop – this freedom is what I enjoy about illustration. My year 1 final major project was called: Plant interaction. Within this project I explored the interesting ways that plants communicate or interact with each other. I then expressed this concept through illustrative textiles using processes such as heat print, screen-print, paint, threading and embroidery. Next year, I am looking forward to the opportunities of working with different media to design illustrations.
