My year 2 FMP has enabled me to test my knowledge of game design and programming that I've acquired over the last two years.

I have chosen AI and pathfinding as my specialist areas, as I believe it is an interesting subject that can be explored in many ways.

The project started as an idea of the player being overwhelmed by a crowd of zombies, which slowly became reality during my work on the FMP. While working on the project, I was interested and especially put a lot of time into how the game runs and making sure it ran smoothly on most devices.

I took a lot of time in Visual Studio polishing the code to make sure it was as resource-efficient and took as little processing power as possible.

Overall, my experience on the course was a pleasant one, as it helped me understand many aspects of game development that I wouldn't have realized are important as an indie developer, and I was able to hone my game design and programming skills in C# with the help of Unity.

Zombie Apocalypse Prototype

The project aims to take certain elements from the “zombie apocalypse” genre and introduce them to an action-packed 3D environment, through the use of the Unity game engine, in order to create an intense and thrill inducing chase scene orchestrated by a complex Artificial Intelligence (AI) named “Horde AI” that can direct a group of enemy characters at once without the need to “instantiate” or create a script for each of the enemy characters, thus increasing performance and allowing for many more characters to be placed at once.

The game will feature multiple themes and levels, two of which are planned to take after the “zombie invasion” theme, while the other, still in the research stage, is planned to take place in the middle ages.
