I have learned all the basics to achieve my project, such as creating a menu, getting a character to move and jump as well as creating simple AI. I’ve learned how to create a HUD (Heads Up Display) to show the player how many lives and points they have. This course has helped me learn to plan more effectively and have a schedule instead of just doing things whenever.
Quest For Milk
A 2D flip-screen platformer with tricky levels where pixel-perfect precision is required to succeed.
Here’s the story - Matt woke up this morning to make his coffee. When he went to the fridge he realised he was all out of milk. Matt needs to get to the shops ASAP as he’s a grouch without his caffeine hit!
Matt sets off for the shops by jumping across platforms that his hometown is built on. His hometown is typically festooned with a variety of mutated enemies, such as slugs and seed spitting sunflowers. These enemies will try to stop him and ruin his day.
Matt’s aim is to get from the left side to the right side of the screen by jumping on the platforms using the A and D keys on the keyboard as well as the spacebar. He can can also collect coins on the way to score points as well as choose whether or not to defeat the enemies they come across.
Matt can also jump on the slugs to kill them!
Can you help Matt succeed in his quest?
