Over the period of the course I have chosen to specialise in Fashion/Textiles because I’m interested in how people express themselves through clothing. My year 1 final major project is called Punk. The project deals with punk ideologies and how they express them through visual art and fashion. The starting point for this was my fascination with 1970s punk and how punk from then has evolved to punk now. I have chosen to experiment with stitching and printing on an existing pair of jeans. I am interested in the relationship between punk political views and the use of shocking unique fashion techniques. I have used screen printing and metal accessories because the textures accent each other well and create the results I want. Next year in year 2, I am looking forward to the opportunity to further develop my skills on techniques I enjoyed this year to create better results. My goal is to have the skills to have my own custom clothing business along side my tattoo career.
