Progression.
Progress to next year/level of study

Over the period of this course I have chosen to specialise in fashion design because I’m really interested in self expression and uniqueness. I love studying and finding new ways to wear things and make clothes and I also enjoy sketching outfits designs. My year 1 final major project is called Hair. This project deals with how hair has changed and how it can be used in fashion. I started by looking generally at cultural differences and most of my findings consisted of hair. I have chosen to experiment with fabrics and putting fabrics in the heat press to create the colour and pattern I want, I have also used some artificial hair to style onto sketches and see how that’ll work. At the start of this project I used string to imitate hair. I plaited it and twisted it into plaits as it was interesting. I am interested in the relationship between hair and fashion and how they can relate in a unique and cool way. I have used sewing and printing techniques and processes. Printing really helped me create my own fabric and get the design I want and through experimenting with different sewing techniques I created pleats and patterns and textures on fabric to resemble hair. Next year I am looking forward to the opportunity to do more designing using drawing and sketching. I am going to base it around things that interest me personally so I can really get into it. I am also going to make a full garment final outcome. My goal is to be a fashion designer.
