Progression.
Progress to next year/level of study
Over the period of the course I have chosen to specialise in illustration because I have a passion for it and wanted to experiment more with it in my FMP. My final project is called "I would know him in death, at the end go the world" which is a quote from a book called 'the Song of Achilles' by Madeline Miller, based on the myth of Achilles and Patroclus (I highly recommend it, it’s gorgeous). My project deals with the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus and their deaths, which was also the starting point. I wanted to communicate their love for each other and their grief in losing each other. I chose to experiment with collaging pictures of Ancient Greek statues to create design ideas, this progressed my fmp faster and more effectively; as before I was trying to come up with design ideas off the top of my head, which wasn't really working. I was initially opposed the idea of using collage, however I ended up really enjoying it. Next year in year 2 I am looking forward to the opportunity to experiment further with illustration and try new things that I was originally opposed to. After college my goal is to further study art and design at University.
